Fleas Keeping You Up??
Now, fleas don't stand a chance thanks to ProgramŽ, and now there's new ProgramŽ
Injectable for Cats!! One injection from your vet and your cats are protected against flea infestations for a full six months, Guaranteed. |
 |
PROGRAM was first available in oral form (as a monthly meal-time tablet or liquid suspension) for both dogs and cats. Now, PROGRAM is
available in an INJECTABLE format for cats to make 6 months of protection even easier!!It's a scary thing for pets when
flea eggs and larvae hatch into a full blown infestation. The best way to prevent this from happening is to practice long term protection by introducing Integrated Flea
Control (or IFC) into your home. Fleas feed on your pet's blood, causing irritation, allergic reactions, and it interferes with the bond pet owners have with their
pets. All are good reasons to take preventive steps to prevent flea infestations before they start.
Successful flea prevention means breaking the flea life cycle, and that's exactly what PROGRAM
does. Adult fleas only account for about 5% of the total population, and that's all you're removing with the old "adults only" approach to flea control. But thanks to
lufenuron (the active ingredient in Program) when a female flea bites a treated pet, the flea can not produce the hundreds of viable eggs she otherwise would, and the
infestation never happens. You may see an occasional hitch-hiker flea if your pet spends a lot of time outside or in repeated contact with untreated animals, but
they will never be able to lay the hundreds of viable eggs (up to 2000 in their lifetime of 3-4 months) they are otherwise able to produce, and your pets and home will never
suffer an infestation.
Should your pet come into contact with adult fleas, it is recommended that pet owners utilize what is called Intergrated Flea Control. Dr. Michael Dryden, a
world renowned expert on flea biology and flea control, recommends that pet owners use an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) or an Insect Development Inhibitor (IDI
such as PROGRAM) as a preventive to stop fleas from establishing a significant presence within the home. Should your pet be exposed to adult fleas, as
little as a single dose of a flea adulticide (or even a flea bath) may be all that is needed to remove the hitch-hiker fleas and restore the pet to a flea-free status,
confident that Program has prevented the fleas from laying hundreds of eggs, and that your pet didn't have to spend all season coated in a pesticide.
Sadly, no adulticide is 100% effective for a full month, and nothing can act fast enough to stop a flea from biting. There are concerns some owners have about exposing
their family and children to pesticides each time they touch (or kiss!) the pet. There have also been concerns raised by Dr. Dryden that the "adults only" approach to
flea control may speed up the development of resistance to formerly effective adulticides. Keep your pet on Program, and keep an adulticide handy should you have to remove an
occasional adult flea.
If you have any questions or concerns, PROGRAM is 100% Guaranteed.
