ERY SHIELD®
Erysipelas in swine is caused by a bacterium called Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. Pigs become infected most commonly from ingesting the organism, although it may also enter the body through skin wounds. The source of the infection is usually other carrier pigs or wild animals such as rodents and birds. Acute erysipelas can cause abortion at any stage of gestation, diamond-shaped skin lesions, high fever, stiffness and lack of appetite.
Ery Shield® is an effective aid in the prevention of erysipelas in healthy swine.
