Contents:
ECOSTARTM 2RC is a killed, adjuvanted product. The Escherichia coli portion is in part a subunit vaccine containing K99 and F41 pilus antigens. It is produced from a strain containing these antigens which is associated with enteropathogenicity of E. coli in newborn calves. In addition, it also contains capsular antigens K17, K25, K28, K30, K35, K85 which are considered of immunogenic importance. The E. coli components are blended with a coronavirus and two rotavirus strains.
Contains gentamicin as a preservative.

Indications:
For use as an aid in the control of scours due to E. coli, rotavirus or coronavirus infections in newborn and young calves through the transfer of antibodies in the colostrum and milk of vaccinated cows and heifers.

Dosage and Administration:
Dosage: 4 mL intramuscularly.

Vaccination Program:
For the primary immunization of cows and heifers, two (2) injections are recommended. The first injection of 4 mL can be given when pregnancy checking is conducted or at about three (3) months after breeding. The second injection of 4 mL should be given within the four (4) weeks before calving. These two (2) injections should be done at least three (3) weeks apart. For subsequent calvings, a single booster injection of 4 mL should be given within the four (4) weeks before calving. It is important that the calf receive colostrum from its mother as soon as possible after birth.

Method of Administration:
The skin should be cleansed before making the inoculation. A suitable injection site is the neck area, anterior to the shoulder.

Precaution(s):
Store at 2°-7°C (35°-45°F). Do not freeze.

Caution(s):

  1. Shake the bottle well before using.
  2. Cleanse the bottle stopper with alcohol or tincture of iodine before inserting the needle.
  3. Use sterile needles and syringes for vaccination.
  4. Cleanse the inoculation site with alcohol or tincture of iodine.
  5. Vaccinate healthy animals only.
  6. In the event of an anaphylactic reaction, administer epinephrine immediately.
  7. Use the entire contents of the vial when first opened.
  8. Not all biological products are completely effective under all circumstances, since immunological incompetence, incubating disease, parasitic and nutritional disorders, and poor management practices may reduce its effectiveness.
  9. For the best results, it is important to observe all recommendations and directions.

Warning(s):
Do not vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.

Presentation:
5 dose (20 mL), 25 dose (100 mL) and 50 dose (200 mL) vials.
