Thank you for your interest in Novartis Animal Health Canada Inc.
We are a world leader in medicines for prevention
of heartworm and fleas in companion animals and a leader in innovative delivery system. We
are committed to working with Veterinarians in a shared quest to improve the wellness of
companion animals.
We have focused our efforts to maintaining a cutting edge presence in the animal health
industry, with revolutionary new products to prolong and improve the quality of life for
pets in Canada, and to strengthen the bond between pets and pet owners. We feel the most
crucial link to improving animal health and safety in Canada is the veterinarian, and as
such, all of our companion animal products are available only from a licensed
veterinarian. We are recognized for providing a superior level of customer service.
The success of Novartis Animal Health is due in large to our technically superior
products such as SENTINELTM,
launched in Canada in 1997, a combination product to prevent heartworm fleas, and
intestinal parasites. It quickly became the largest selling drug in the companion animal
business. Indeed our three key products, SENTINEL,
PROGRAM® and
INTERCEPTOR® are the three leading
companion animal drugs sold in Canada.
PROGRAM, launched in Canada in 1994
with its active ingredient lufenuron for Guaranteed
once-a-month oral flea control, has been a key reason that the market expanded so quickly
in Veterinary practices across Canada. May of 1998 saw the launch of our latest addition
to the PROGRAM lineup;
PROGRAM Injectable for Cats,
which provides six-month flea prevention with a single injection.
The latest addition to our product line is CLOMICALM®.
Launched in early 1999, it is the only licensed veterinary drug for use in dogs with separation
anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders.
INTERCEPTOR, with its
active ingredient milbemycin, provides guaranteed once-a-month heartworm prevention and
control of three intestinal parasites. Great peace of mind for the veterinarian and pet
owner.
We also have developed products with ingredients derived from human medicine. One
example is FORTEKOR®, an ACE
Inhibitor which is used to treat congestive heart failure in dogs.
Novartis also has long standing successful products for the treatment of ear infections
and topical skin conditions in dogs with products such as
PANOLOG® Cream and
PANOLOG® Ointment.
For dogs suffering from Addisons disease (hypoadrenocorticism) we produce a drug
called PERCORTEN®-V for
mineralocorticoid replacement therapy.
